Chromosome 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (DiGeorge syndrome/velocardiofacial syndrome).

چکیده
Chromosome 22q11.2 deletion syndrome is a common syndrome also known as DiGeorge syndrome and velocardiofacial syndrome. It occurs in approximately 1:4000 births, and the incidence is increasing due to affected parents bearing their own affected children. The manifestations of this syndrome cross all medical specialties, and care of the children and adults can be complex. Many patients have a mild to moderate immune deficiency, and the majority of patients have a cardiac anomaly. Additional features include renal anomalies, eye anomalies, hypoparathyroidism, skeletal defects, and developmental delay. Each child's needs must be tailored to his or her specific medical problems, and as the child transitions to adulthood, additional issues will arise. A holistic approach, addressing medical and behavioral needs, can be very helpful.

Thrombocytopenia and Postpartum Hemorrhage in a Woman with Chromosome 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome
Chromosome 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, also known as DiGeorge or velocardiofacial syndrome, is associated with a wide spectrum of phenotypic features. It is known to be associated with severe macrothrombocytopenia. Postpartum hemorrhage is a leading cause of maternal morbidity and mortality globally. Chromosome 22q11.2 deletion syndrome is rare cause of thrombocytopenia that can be a significant...
متن کاملDigeorge syndrome presenting with uncommon cardiac anomaly and hepatomegaly
Digeorge syndrome is caused by microdeletion of a large region of chromosome 22q11.2 lead to the abnormal development of the third and fourth pharyngeal pouches. This syndrome is characterized by hypoparathyroidism, cellular immune deficiency secondary to thymic hypoplasia, congenital heart disease and dysmorphic facial features. In this case report, we describe a 4month old boy who presented w...
متن کاملChromosome 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (DiGeorge and velocardiofacial syndromes).
Chromosome 22q11.2 deletion syndrome occurs in approximately 1 of 3000 children. Clinicians have defined the phenotypic features associated with the syndrome and the past 5 years have seen significant progress in determining the frequency of the deletion in specific populations. As a result, caregivers now have a better appreciation of which patients are at risk for having the deletion. Once id...
متن کاملA Hirschsprung disease locus at 22q11?
We report a boy with truncus arteriosus, dysmorphic features, developmental delay, passing hypotonia, short segment Hirschsprung disease (HSCR), and paroxysmal hypoventilation. FISH analysis showed an interstitial deletion in chromosome band 22q11.2 coinciding with the deletions found in DiGeorge syndrome and velocardiofacial syndrome. Mutation scanning of RET, GDNF, EDNRB, and EDN3, genes asso...
متن کاملEarly onset intellectual disability in chromosome 22q11.2 deletion syndrome.
Chromosome 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, or DiGeorge syndrome, or velocardiofacial syndrome, is one of the most common multiple anomaly syndromes in humans. This syndrome is commonly caused by a microdelection from chromosome 22 at band q11.2. Although this genetic disorder may reflect several clinical abnormalities and different degrees of organ commitment, the clinical features that have driven ...
